Frequently Asked Questions

If you have a question that isn't answered here, do feel free to send an email to necronomicalplush@gmail.com and your query will be answered as soon as possible. If you're still sending emails to the old yahoo address, please re-send to the gmail. Yahoo doesn't always give Nekky her mail.

General

  • Will you make me a plushie?
    Yes.
  • Will you make me a plushie for free?
    No. We're not a charity.
  • But you make other people plushies for free.
Good friends only. Girls gotta make a living here.

The Plushies

  • What are your plushies made of?
All our plushies are made of a soft flesh-tone (or other color) flannel material and are machine sewed, except for certain small details, which are hand-sewed. We stuff them with fiberfill. Clothes are made out of a variety of materials, including cotton, flannel, fleece, satin, lace, linen, vinyl, pleather, etc, depending on whatever would look right. We won't say no to using a fabric just because it frays a little, but we do try to stay away from low-quality materials like felt. Hair is made out of fleece (which is soft and doesn't fray) or craft fur, for spikey-haired characters. Depending on the character, our plushies may also have accessories made of cardboard, dowels, balsa wood, Sculpey, Crayola model magic, or whatever little things we can find to use. Mostly accessories like swords and staffs will be made of balsa wood and are hand-carved.
  • How do you do the faces?
Nekky hand-paints them in acrylic with her awesome brush skillz.
  • How big are your plushies?
Generally 12 to 15 inches tall. We have two different patterns we use, depending on the character and the commission - we've got the Standard size, like Tobi in the gallery, and we've got the Tall version, like Asher in the gallery, which has longer legs and arms, but is otherwise the same.
  • Can I get an accessory with my plushie?
Examples of accessories include swords, staves, if you want the plush to hold a flower or something, etc. And yes, you can. We can either sew the accessory in place, just include it with the doll, or we can put a neodymium magnet in the doll's hand and another magnet on the sword/staff/whatever so the doll can hold it, but without it being stuck on permanently. PLEASE NOTE, magnetized accessories cost extra. Anything made and shaped out of balsa wood will cost extra. Fabric accessories and things like fake flowers probably won't cost you any extra.

Commissions

  • How do I commission you?
    Email Nekky at
necronomicalplush@gmail.com, or drop her a PM on Deviantart. Please see the Ordering page first to fill out the order form.
  • What characters will you make?
Any at all. We'll do anime/manga characters, original characters (Requires a DETAILED description, and any pictures you might have.), video game characters, your MMORPG characters within reason, real people within reason, etc. Please send plenty of good reference pictures and specifications (Ex. If a character has multiple outfits, which one? Do you want a sword/weapon/accessory go with it or not?) so we can make your plushie exactly the way you want it. :)
******* We do not do plushies of celebrities/animals/anthro/furries/etc at this time. Maybe in the future, but not at the moment. We also will not do vulgar or offensive plushies. We reserve the right to turn down a commission if we feel it fits into one of the above 'no-no' categories. We MAY take on simple creatures like the Yogg Saron plush we did, but that's entirely our decision whether we'll try it or not.
  • After I pay you, how long do you take to make and ship my order?
It all depends on what character you've asked for, how many plushies you want, what materials it takes, and how many other orders are on my list at the time. If I have more than a couple of orders on my list, it will take longer and 99% of the time, I really can't give you an estimate on time.
  • Will you remake a plushie out of your gallery for me?
The only remakes we will do are of fandom characters. We will NOT remake original characters, unless it's for the person who owns the character in question. We will also not do exact remakes of gift plushies.
  • Can I change my order if I've already ordered?
No. It's extremely inconvenient for us, especially if we've started and purchased fabric for your first order. KNOW WHAT YOU WANT WHEN YOU PAY. You can only change the order before you've paid, while we're still working things out, because at that point, we would not have started on or purchased any fabric for your doll.

Pricing

  •  How much is a commission?
Prices start off at $60-70 USD, plus $10 shipping to anywhere in the US. That's just a baseline price, though, because quite a few things factor in. Craft fur hair, lots of accessories (swords, etc), complicated or detailed outfits, special fabrics, having to order certain fabrics online, etc. will all add to the price. You can also pay for faster shipping, shipping insurance, etc, just let us know.
  • Why are your plushies so expensive? I can get one on ebay for 10 bucks!
Having something hand-made exactly how you want it is a luxury, and we don't overcharge. You're paying for materials, time (because yes, our time is important, and lately, Nekky has little of it), and labor. Also shipping and handling, but you knew that already, right? Besides, on ebay, a lot of plushies are crappy Chinese bootlegs made with unsafe materials or made shoddily, or they look nothing like they're supposed to. When you commission us, you're getting a plushie that looks the way YOU want it to, made with safe materials, and you're supporting a better cause. (Nekky is a poor college student. Her cause is better than paying money to bootleggers so they can keep making lame bootlegs.)
  • Do I have to pay up front?
Yes, please. Rarely will we make an exception to this rule, because obviously we need money to buy your plushie's materials and things.
  • I can't pay the full amount up front. Can we come to an agreement?
That's fine. We require HALF of your total up front to cover materials, and the other half before we ship. Paypal charges US fees per transaction, so we'd like to keep it to a maximum of 2 payments, please. Also keep in mind this: if you've paid half your total and we finish your plushie before you pay the rest, you'll have a certain amount of time(usually a month unless you specifically ask for more time and have a good reason, we're not unreasonable)  to finish paying for your plushie. We will remind you periodically during this time. If, after the time period, you don't finish paying off your plushie, we get to keep it /sell it and you will NOT get a refund of the half you did pay.

Commission Status and Pictures

  • How far along are you on my plushie?
Check the front page. We update it as often as we can with our status on each order. If you want a more detailed status report on your order, feel free to email Nekky, but please don't bother us EVERY SINGLE DAY. Our primary work days are on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, when Nekky doesn't have classes.
  • Will you send me WIP pictures?
    If you ask, we will.
  • I'm at the top of the list, why does it say you've done work on an order after mine?
Generally, we work on one or two orders at a time. However, putting together bodies and sometimes heads don't take long, and Sardonyx can do those things while Nekky (who is the primary creative advisor) is in class.. If we've done work on an order farther down on the list than yours, it's probably just putting together bodies/heads, and it doesn't mean we're actually focusing on that order yet.
  • I'm giving this plushie as a present, can you keep it a secret on your site?
YES, we can. If you ask for us not to put specifics up on our site, we won't, and you'll get a very generic title (such as Original Character Plush), which we will tell you so you can still check the status of your order.
  • How do you handle posting pictures of the commission plushies you do?
We reserve the right to post pictures of EVERY plush we do. HOWEVER, we will NOT post pictures of a commission or gift until after the plush is in the owner's hands. We believe the commissioner or gift recipient should be the first person to see their new plushie. :)
  • Can I post pictures of my plushie in my Deviantart/Sheezyart/whatever gallery?
You certainly may, as long as you don't try to claim you made it yourself. If you do, you won't be fooling anyone. Our work is not like ANY other plush artist's work, and plush artists can usually recognize that. A link back to us is also appreciated, but not required.
